Reaching Fitness Goals While Vegan

Uncategorized Aug 16, 2020

I’ve been drawn to the body building lifestyle for awhile.

After looking into it, it’s not something that I want to do, but I have wanted to train like a competitor.

I want the discipline that’s required to do something of that magnitude.

I’ve always wanted to push my body to the limits to see if I can go from being a mom of two to transforming my body to so much that if I ever wanted to compete in a body building competition, I might actually have a chance at winning.

You would think this would be easy eating plant based foods, but it’s been a bit more difficult than I expected.

Here are some things that I’ve found to be helpful on this fitness journey.

Hiring a Trainer

There’s just no way around this. Unless you’re already comfortable in the gym, know how to structure your workouts, and understand how all the foods you eat work in conjunction intricately with your workouts, it’s worth the investment to hire someone to help...

Quick, Easy, Guilt Free, Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

One of my favorite Instagram accounts is @UpBeetandKaleingIt. I stumbled upon a post of some of her chocolate chip cookies that I had to try. The recipe seemed simple enough, so I gave it shot and my kids and husband loved them, which is rare.

The ingredients are:

 2 cups spelt flour
 1 tsp baking powder
 3 tbsp coconut palm sugar
 1/3 cup vegan butter melted
1 flax egg (1 tbsp ground flax seed mixed with 3 tbsp water)
 1/4 cup coconut oil melted
1/3 cup dairy free milk + 1 tbsp I used homemade walnut milk
1/3 or 1/2 cup dairy free chocolate chips

Get the full recipe here.

I had to swap two ingredients which was applesauce instead of flax egg and Raw Agave instead of coconut palm sugar.

They only take 13 min to cook in the oven. I used a brownie sheet to make mine to make them thick.

Since I’m staying at home and have a toddler to keep busy, this was fun to make together!

Transitioning to Alkaline Foods

Uncategorized Aug 14, 2020

I was hoping to be done with any further transitioning once I became plant based. I just knew that being plant based would be enough, but unfortunately, I’m realizing I still have adjustments to make.

I recently decided to give transitioning to alkaline foods a try.

When I first looked into eating plant based, my husband mentioned a man named Dr. Sebi to me and he had watched several of his videos on youtube. I didn’t wanna hear ANY of what he was talking about.

It sounded crazy and way too restrictive. I was intrigued by the claims that he was able to cure AIDS with a vegan diet consisting of alkaline foods, but I didn’t care to get into the details.

Dr. Sebi

Dr. Sebi

Once I started posting foods in Instagram, I started getting a lot of comments from people whenever I would post seedless fruit or white rice. People were always saying how it wasn’t “Dr. Sebi approved”. I didn’t care about that. I never said I was...

Tell me a little about yourself. What made you decide to go vegan?

I became vegan because growing up I was always health conscious — some of which stemmed from dealing with personal weight and moderate skin issues. However, it wasn’t until I started doing further research and met my husband that I learned more about health and was able to make the correlation with diet and diseases. This is when I realized veganism and a holistic lifestyle was the best for me. I’ve been vegan 8 years now...
